The Nintendo Gun provided a better point and shoot mechanism than the add on modules that are available for the Wiimote. This hack allows you to adapt one of the original Nintendo Guns to work with the Wiimote. Since the Wiimote uses an IR camera to look at the sensor bar that sensor needs to be removed and installed in the tip of the gun.

Why not make music with your wiimote!
“This video is about controlling a modular synth with Nintendo’s wiimote gamepad, using Doepfer A-100, Doepfer MCV24, Wiimote and computer. Softwares used are Bluesoleil, Glovepie and midiox. This video is not an artistic demonstration but a technical explanation of this system (that can be used for making music ofc).”

If you have been thinking about installing the Cyclowiz Wii mod chip, this video shows you the install technique.
Video after the jump.
Here are some details about the Cyclowiz chip:
“The CycloWiz modchip is the second Nintendo Wii Drivechip to be released to the public. Drivechips work by injecting code into the DVD-ROM telling it that the homebrew/backup disc is a legitmate program which can be run on the Nintendo Wii. Sadly, Drivechips are limited to certain functions and do not allow you to run unsigned Nintendo Wii code thus disabling homebrew developers from utilizing the power of the Nintendo Wii’s hardware. Luckily though you can still boot your GameCube homebrew. One must remember that it was one of the first chips to arrive so it only features basic functionality.”

Johnny Lee has been featured here many times for all of his Wiimote hacks. If you want to learn more about him, have a look at this Interview with Johnny Lee over at Hacked Gadgets.
AP: Your Wii projects have been taking the Web by storm! What attracted you to the Wiimote
as your interaction device of choice?
JL: Well, I was excited by the Wii Remote ever since the original press release about it’s capabilities was public. Ironically, I was an intern at Microsoft the summer before the Xbox 360 was launched. Several internal people, including me, were still trying to convince the Xbox group they should put an accelerometer into the controller. That, of course, didn’t happen. The Wii remote is one of the most sophisticated input devices available today and an amazing piece of engineering containing an accelerometer, camera, and wireless communication. Combined with the ease in which you can connect it to a computer made it an obvious choice for experimentation.

A quick hack and allows a Nintendo Nunchuck to control this RC Robot.
Video after the jump.
“I connected a Wii Nunchuck controller to an Arduino, which takes the data from the controller’s I2C data bus, decodes it, and send the data to the robot with a radio transmitter. Charlie uses a radio receiver to get the data, and it will control the drive servo system and the pan tilt servo system using the data. The Nunchuck has a 3 axis accelerometer, a joystick, and 2 buttons, it is absolutely awesome to use with a RC robot like this.”

Wow, this is a cool use of the Wiimote! Leave it to Johnny Lee to keep dreaming up cool uses for it.
Video after the jump.
“Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University.”
