More examples of the Wiimote used on a computer.
Video after the jump.

“In this video, a modder uses a Wiimote controller, Project64, GlovePIE, a homemade sensor bar, and a Bluetooth USB dongle to play Zelda Ocarina of Time.”

Medical Wiimote Reporting a CT Scan

Categories: PC Connect, Video, Wiimote Hack.

The Wiimote may find some uses in the medical field!
Video after the jump.

“wii remote interfaced with glovepie gives to the research community a new type of human interface device. Interfacing this awesome object with intelligent key bindings, you can think about a new way to report, to interface with images, to explore the body volume. In a not so much far future, we can imagine and wonder to report radiology images in a “minority report” way. This is a simple example of me interfacing for window/level, zoom, pan & slice scrolling features on a CT set of images. I’m open to suggestions!”

Multi Color A Button Mod

Categories: Video, Wiimote Hack.

Jazz up the A Button of your Wiimote.
Video after the jump.

“Yea so I had this idea long before I even did my previous mod. I already know that there is a mod out there that is a blue light A button, but to my recollection it had no info on how it was turned on or anything. I am making it very clear I did not copy that persons mod and I had the idea long before theirs. Plus mine has more…”features”.

Wiring was a pain because instead of having a ground and a power, you have to ground from each light. To make it still function flawless and light up good was an extremely hard task. Total mod time was around 3 hours straight.”

Charge the Wiimote using USB

Categories: Wiimote Hack.

Charge your Wiimote using USB.

“Rechargeable battery, via ipod battery.
Added Power Button Light
Charge via USB through stock Wii Dongle.

There is more i am leaving out. Right towards me putting it all back together, I can name about 5 things that went terribly wrong. So this is now dubbed my “Version.0″. I don’t like how it turned out internally and some scuffs/burns externally.”

Wiimote Handcufs

Categories: Funny, Wiimote Hack.

We all know about the Wiimote strap issue. Problem solved. :)
See the Nintendo solution after the jump, not as impressive.

“Well I was worried about my Strap get loose, so I modified a little something just to make sure it wont.
Enjoy

The Handcufs are actually Fake from a Sex shop, but they hold quite some force.
Im afraid the only weak point is the small Chain from Pic 3 that is where it fits into the Controller…”

Nintendo Wiimote LED Mod

Categories: Wiimote Hack.

Give your Wiimote some style with some new colored LEDs.

“This is an simple yet innovative mod to replace the LEDs on the wiimote to correspond to the cursor colours used by the Nintendo Wii. For example pointing the player 2 controller at the screen gives a red cursor, this mod changes the corresponding LEDs on the wiimote to match that of the screen. A second part, to be written, will also show how to add additional LEDs under the A button to light up as well.”

Wii Remote Controls a PS3

Categories: Funny, Wiimote Hack.

Funny to think about two rival machines tied together.

“This is a fun bit of turnabout. In addition to missile control systems, a vacuum cleaner, and your house, the Wii remote can now also control a PS3.

The demonstration shows an ordinary PS3 running Linux using a Wiimote as the pointing device (as opposed to a mouse), with the Wiimote simply plugged into a spare USB port on the PS3 system.”

Universal Wiimote

Categories: Video, Wiimote Hack.

This is almost a real Wiimote controlling the TV.
Video after the jump.

“This was a special promo item given out to Nintendo Club Members in Japan. It does not have the hardware of a retail wiimote, it is simply a wii-mote shell with hardware inside to emit infared signals. Does anyone know how this is programmed? Is it a learning remote, or does it have preset codes for each brand of TV like a radioshack universal remote?”

WiiAction Input Library

Categories: Video, Wiimote Hack.

Looks like you can have lots of fun with this code library.
Video after the jump.

“Four days after the UK release of the Nintendo Wii, I have completed the first version of the WiiAction C++ Input Library. It has a very clean interface, similar to Microsoft’s XInput.

Supported:
- All button presses
- Tilting (using internal “accelerometer”)
- Rumble

Yet to be supported:
- IR Triangulation (For the screen pointer)
- Sound
- Expansion ports (nunchuck etc)

No plans to support fully:
- Mii Data. It’s there and accessible, but the idea of writing a Mii Editor to actually edit or display the Miis bores me. It is possible to get the Mii name though, and use that on scoreboards and suchlike.

Technical Information:
The library is written in C++ using the Broadcom WIDCOMM DK. Demos compiled using this library require a WIDCOMM-compatible bluetooth dongle to support it. WiiAction is currently untested on other bluetooth stack formats.

Many thanks to LiquidIce for his fantastic Wii development blog, to the various people hosting versions of the WiiLi Wiki, and to everyone at #wiimote and #wiidev!

Also thanks to the lovely Miss Jessica Walker, for the loan of her dongle, and to Mr. Simon Halliday for the loan of his videocamera. Finally, thanks to Mr. Luke Nockles for directing this video and for ensuring there was always a bitesized chunk of biltong already cut off the hunk when I got hungry.”

WiiSticks

Categories: Video, Wiimote Hack.

Check out WiiSticks for some fun with your Wiimote.
Video after the jump.

“WiiSticks is my first attempt at combining input from a Wii remote and physics simulation. In the game the user holds 2 wii remotes (or 1 remote with a nunchuck attachment), and flips and spins a rod back and forth between 2 sticks that they control directly with the remote. The input is very intuitive, even providing basic force feedback (the controller rumbles on contact with other objects).

A release version will be available soon. Requires a bluetooth adaptor for your windows PC, and at least 1 Wii remote + Nunchuck, or 2 Wii remotes.
FEATURES

* intuitive controls feel “like the real thing”
* fully playable with only the wii remote (no mouse or keyboard required)
* expandable design means more sticks can be added easily”
