Make a Wii Component Cable

Categories: Wii Console Hack.

Don’t spend tons of cash on a simple cable, make your own!
Schematic after the jump.

“Really i used paper clips cut to length. tongue.gif
my original idea was to use only the original pins.(but i broke too many damn!! you have to slide them back in just right )
there are enough if you dont break any.
leave left and right audio in their spots.
pull composite and the grounds for left and right audio.
all points are grounded in the system so basically to be functional you only need one. just leave the gnd paired with the composite rca.
so you have to move only 3 pins
remove the outer grey cover then move composite to 7-Y, gndL to 9-Pb/Cb, gndR to 11-Pr/Cr and add one paper clip jumper(8to10).
then just cut off the left and right rcas on the other end of the cable. then separate the positive and gnds for both left and right rca connectors.
connect the positive of the left and right to the the center/positive wires from the rcas you cut off earlier.. to finish up the project you will need two more male rca jacks to connect the outer/gnd wires from the audio left and right.
in turn those will become the positives for PR/Cr and Pb/Cb. then you will have your untouched composite video rca turned into Y and using its original gnd to ground everything.”

Wii Skins

Categories: Video, Wii Console Hack, Wiimote Hack.

Make your plain white Wii and Wiimote stand out with some new skin.
Video and more pics after the jump.

“We have to be honest – when Nintendo changed the name of the next-gen console from “Revolution”, announced it wouldn’t support anything greater than 480p, and showed off a controller that looked like a TV remote, we had our doubts. We were wrong… the Wii is a fantastic piece of equipment and more than a few hours have been wasted in the reception area at DecalGirl on impromptu Wii Sports sessions.

To show our love for the Wii, we developed exceptional Wii skins, with maximum coverage and a precision fit to avoid huge gaps between panels. Our premium thin materials cover both sides of the console, so it’s gorgeous in or out of the stand.”

Transfer a Mii from your Wii using bluetooth and the Wiimote

Categories: Video, Wii Console Hack, Wiimote Hack.

Use your Wiimote to it’s full extent by transferring your Mii with it. What is a Mii? Check out the video to see.
Video after the jump.

“MiiTransfer is a small application for reading and writing data to the internal memory of the wiimote. Using this app you can easily transfer mii’s from your wiimote to your pc, and back to your Wii.

This is exciting, because now Wii hackers can begin trading Mii’s using sites such as WiiModWii’s Mii Transfer Station:

http://www.wiimodwii.com/miis/

This was all made possible due to efforts by marcan and the author of WDML (WiiMote Data Management Library).

Here is how to transfer Mii’s from your Wii to your Wii-Mote to your computer. Once on your computer you can upload and download Mii’s from the internet, then transfer them back to your wii-mote and back into your Wii.

First you will need a bluetooth adapter and a Wii-mote.
The first release of MiiTransfer ONLY works with the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack. Yes this is the same MS Stack that will NOT work with GlovePie or many of the other wii-mote apps. If you are using another BT you need to go into device manager and update the driver. The next version of MiiTransfer should be more compatible with other Bluetooth Stacks.”

Wii Shop Browser Hack

Categories: Video, Wii Console Hack.

Surf the Web on your Wii.
Video after the jump.

“The Wii won’t officially have it’s Opera 9 browser until later, but clever individuals have figured out how to “hack” the settings on the Shop Channel (which is basically a stripped-down browser), and venture out onto the web. It’s not the prettiest solution, but it’ll get you surfing until the real thing finally drops.

Tools Used:

WifiMax Nintendo Wii Wireless Dongle
PC of course

Want to browse the internet before WII’s Opera is launched?

Heres how::

Step One:

Download Simple DNS Plus at http://www.jhsoft.com/
Install Simple DNS Plus

Step Two:

Once you have Simple DNS Plus opened goto Tools -> Edit DNS Records
In the DNS records goto tools –> Quick Domain Wizard
In the domain field type “oss.shop.wii.com”
for the webserver ip type in the ip of the website to goto (if you want to find out the ip goto cmd prompt and type ping sitename.com)
google’s IP is 64.233.167.99
so bascially put that in as the “Web Server IP”
Erase the secondary DNS Server and press OK

On the WII

Goto the Wii Menu
Wii Settings
Internet
Connection Settings
Chose your connection
Change settings
click next 3 times until you get to the DNS setup, Click Advanced Settings
Then enter the primary DNS as your computers IP address: (to get that goto cmd prompt on the computer and type ipconfig)
click ok and launch the Shopping Channel, it should bring up google now!
Check Home Page for Video”

Nintendo Wii Teardown

Categories: Video, Wii Console Hack.

Inside the Wii.
Video after the jump.

“The Nintendo Wii is the first SI has seen of the 90nm IBM processor, codenamed “Broadway”, designed solely for Nintendo using IBM’c Power architecture. The processor features silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology, which improves processing power and reduces energy consumption by 20%. “Nintendo has used both 1T-SRAM and eDRAM technology,” said Don Scansen, SI’s lead process technology analyst. “It remains to be seen if the NEC-MoSys co-designed 90nm embedded DRAM will provide enough power to compete with the game play offered by Microsoft and Sony.”

Wii hacked to run backup discs? Maybe.

Categories: Video, Wii Console Hack.

Is it fake? Could be…
Video after the jump.

“If you’ve got a hefty hankering for a totally unverifiable Wii hack on video, complete with a horrible soundtrack and shaky-cam cinematography, then boy do we have a present for you. YouTube’s finest, a certain pimmysays, has uploaded just such a video, and is making the notable claim of hacking the Wii to run game backups. Just like the rest of these fools do, pimmy’s video quality is horrible, and there could easily be a cut at 1:16 — or just about anywhere else, for that matter — where pimmy could’ve stopped the camera and swapped in an actual Zelda disc instead of that burned DVD the video shows being loaded at the first. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too terribly long to find out: pimmy is promising “something special” on New Years, implying an unveil of the hack for all to see. We’re not holding our breath. Peep the video after the break.”

Nintendo Wii Controlled Smarthome

Control you house with your Wii.

This is my Nintendo Wii Controlled Smart Home. Using the Wii-Mote and my Nintendo Wii, I have an onscreen Flash User Interface that lets me control the following aspects of my home: Lights, Thermostat, Security Camera, Music Playback, Cable DVR, and more.

How did you do this?
The heart of this control system is a custom script written in PHP that does all of traffic directing. A mysql database holds command sets and ip addresses for each device, and forwards the appropriate status signals to the Flash GUI. Simple button press events in flash trigger PHP scripts which blink the IR emitters, and communicate with the lighting controller.”

Control your missile launcher with your Wiimote.
Video after the jump.

“Here we go with the latest wiihack. This time you can controll with the wiimote a USB missile launcher. Now dont misunderstand here… this missile launcher fires out nothing but foam rockets. I just didnt want you thinking that you could rule the world with one of these things. Still, it’s a cool idea and well worth looking at if you want to have a good laugh.”
